Getting Here

The School will take place at Cornell University, located in Ithaca, NY. The official address for the summer school is 401 Physical Sciences Building, 245 East Avenue, Ithaca NY 14853. The Cornell campus is just a short taxi ride from the Ithaca Airport and is easily accessible from the NYC area via the Campus to Campus bus service.  For participants traveling via the Syracuse airport, we plan to coordinate a shuttle bus service to and from Syracuse/Cornell.

Housing and Meals

All participants will be staying in Mews Hall, located at 172 Cradit Farm Road, Ithaca NY 14853. The dorm rooms are fully air conditioned and provide conference level housekeeping (beds are made fresh daily, towels, face cloths, soap, shampoo and drinking glass provided). At check in, participants will receive 1 room key and 1 door access card. Keys and cards must be returned before leaving the University.

Dining: Souvenir meal cards will be provided to each participant. The meal cards will be loaded with a mix of “Summer Bucks” (to be used on campus at any dining location) and “City Bucks” to be used at select off campus locations, including “Ithaca to go”. If lost, the service center can replace the card with a non-souvenir card. All replacement meal cards must be returned to a staff member of the residential and event services office.

Check-in and Registration

Check in will be after 4pm on June 10th and check out will be no late than 10am on June 23.

Participants will receive a meal card funded with a mix of Summer Bucks and City Bucks to be used at any on campus dining facilities (summer bucks) and select Off-Campus establishments, including Ithaca-to-go deliveries (city bucks).

The lectures will take place in 401 Physical Sciences Building, and lab tours  will be in Clark Hall and the Physical Sciences Building.


Conference Services partners with Transportation to provide an advance parking portal which allows participants to print out a parking permit for the duration of the school.


The school is scheduled to begin at 8:40am in room 401 Physical Sciences Building with a welcome by the organizers, and the first lecture is scheduled for 9am.

Typically there will be two lectures in the morning, 9:00am-12.30 pm with a coffee break 10.30-11 am, and one after-lunch lecture, panel discussion, or poster session at 2:00pm-3:30pm. Some additional seminars and discussions will also be held, with a final schedule posted on the website as soon as it's available.

All students are strongly encouraged to present a poster at the school. Details about the posters will be contained in the admission letter you receive. Location for discussions and poster sessions are forthcoming.

Copies of lectures notes will be available during the School. Soon after end of the School, these will also be available on the website. All talks will be videotaped and will be available online.


Cornell University is home to an extensive library system.  A full listing of our libraries and their hours can be found here. The main branch  is Olin Library, which is open 7 days a week from 8am to 2am.
